  5.                             SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  7. () A 386SX processor or better, MS-DOS v5.0 or higher or Win'95
  8.  
  9.    ** If the game fails to run under WIN'95, select SHUT DOWN from the
  10.       START menu and choose 'REBOOT IN MS-DOS MODE'.

  12. () A MOUSE, loaded with its proper driver.

  14. () A VGA video card.

  16. () At least 250Kb of free conventional (base)
  17.    memory. Sound support requires an additional
  18.    250Kb of free memory, consult the installation
  19.    guide below.

  22.    Sound Blaster Pro, Gravis Ultrasound.

  26. Sound Configuration

  28. You will need to configure your sound card to hear any music with the
  29. game.  The default is 'NO SOUND', you can change this by running
  30. SETUP.EXE.  You can move around the menus by using the arrow keys and
  31. pressing (ENTER) on your selection.  Choosing INSTALL will save the
  32. current configuration.
  33.  
  34. Once you have selected a sound card for use with your game, you must
  35. specify the settings for it. Some cards require more settings then
  36. others. For help on these settings, consult your sound cards manual.
  37. Some of these settings include Base (IO), DMA, IRQ.  You can also check
  38. for your sound card configuration by typing: SET (ENTER) at the dos
  39. prompt or in a MSDOS box.  A sample output might display:

  41.         SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T1
  42.  
  43. This is the configuration for a sound blaster card set at Base 220h,
  44. Interrupt 7h, and DMA 1.  Choose these values in the SETUP program.
  45.  
  46. Plasma Zone requires you to enter a playback rate (Select kHz) for digital 
  47. music when using Sound Blaster cards. This rate indicates the quality of 
  48. music and sound effects you would like to hear. The higher the rate, the 
  49. higher the quality of music. If you have a slow computer, you should select 
  50. a low rate to avoid game problems.
  51.  
  52. Gravis Ultrasound music will always play at a rate of 41000kHz, 
  53. regardless of computer speed. This does not create any problems.

  55. To change any of these settings again, simply run SETUP.EXE, choose
  56. your new options, and then select INSTALL from the main menu.

  58. Plasma Zone requires 407Kb free memory for Gravis Ultrasound support and 462Kb 
  59. free memory for Sound Blaster support.

  63. Troubleshooting
  64. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  65. Make sure that you have consulted SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS to avoid system           
  66. problems. The following is a short list of some problems you might experience 
  67. when trying to run PlasmaZone. A possible solution for each problem is 
  68. provided.

  70. Q: PlasmaZone doesn't run in Windows'95.
  71. A: If you encounter problems while running the game through Windows '95
  72.    you should reboot to MSDOS.  You can do this by selecting Shut Down
  73.    from the Start menu and then selecting "Reboot to MSDOS".

  75. Q: PlasmaZone says that my mouse driver wasn't found. What should I do ?
  76. A: Your mouse driver isn't loaded. You must load your mouse driver into
  77.    memory before you can run PlasmaZone. This is done by the program 
  78.    (driver) provided with your mouse.
  79.  
  80. Q: While playing PlasmaZone, the mouse flickers (or) When I run PlasmaZone, 
  81.    I hear music but nothing is displayed. Why ?
  82. A: You've selected a high playback rate for music. Select a lower rate and
  83.    run the game again. Consult Sound Configuration for help on this.

  85. Q: I don't hear any music when running PlasmaZone. Why ?
  86. A: Make sure that you have a compatible sound card, check the PlasmaZone
  87.    System Requirements for information on compatible cards. Make sure your
  88.    card settings are correct. Make sure you have enough free memory for
  89.    sound support, consult Sound Configuration.
  90.  
  91. Q: PlasmaZone says "Error loading music." (or) "Error loading sound FXs."
  92.    (or) "Data file (PZONE.DAT) doesn't exist."  What's wrong ?
  93. A: Your main data files are destroyed. Install the entire game again from
  94.    reliable backups. 
  95.  
  96. Q: PlasmaZone says "Config file (PZONE.CFG) doesn't exist." What's wrong ?
  97. A: Your sound configuration file has been destroyed. Go to the drive and 
  98.    directory where your game is, and type SETUP (─┘). To choose a new
  99.    sound setting and then select INSTALL, consult Sound Configuration.

  101. Q: PlasmaZone says "Not enough conventional memory." What's wrong ?
  102. A: You need to free up more base memory. Remove any memory resident programs
  103.    that are not needed.
